Tortue Tortue
Nuit Blanche sums up the effort of a rock band that has taken up autotuned rap. It’s a groovy and melancholy ballad bearing a political message. The song draws its influences from French rap, but is also marked by a meditative and philosophical quest.
The track speaks of loneliness, of disappointment in love, which can sometimes be transformed into a driving force for a greater cause. It’s also an appeal against technocracy, clearly refering to the 2021 film ”don’t look up”.
Influenced by the likes of Damon Albarn or Tame Impala, the French rap of Lomepal and the West African music of Fatoumata Diawara, Tortue Tortue creates rhythmic, melancholic and political tunes. Aiming for togetherness, their music is a gentle mixture of rock, funk, reggae and jazz.
