About the Arst Hailing from the lively and culturally diverse land of Zimbabwe, TAP emerged as a Warrior Princess with a fiery spirit, unyielding courage, and boundless passion. Her musical odyssey commenced amidst the bustling streets of Bulawayo, where the vibrant rhythms of African existence first permeated her being, inslling within her a profound adoraon for the world of music. A Global Odyssey At the tender age of 10, TAP embarked on a life-changing journey, as she immigrated with her family to the rainbow naon of South Africa. This transion brought new sounds, influences, and experiences that would later enrich her music. In her late twenes, with a passion for spreading the beauty of African culture to a wider audience and spreading her wings, TAP took the bold step of relocang to the United States. This move opened up a world of opportunies, allowing her to merge her African roots with the diverse musical landscape of the United States. Her lyrics are both poec and profound, touching on themes of love, identy, and the universal human experience. She lives her life guided by two African words; Ubuntu translated as ”I am because we are” (also ”I am because you are”), or ”humanity towards others” (Zulu umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu). In Xhosa, the laer term is used, but is oen meant in a more philosophical sense to mean ”the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”. How can we be happy if one of us is sad. And Sawubona, a Zulu greeng that literally means ”I see you”. It’s more than just a polite phrase, it’s a way to acknowledge the value and dignity of each person. Sawubona is a way to accept others as they are, with their flaws, virtues, and nuances.
